HighCom Armor Celebrates Recommissioning of XTclave™ System with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony in Columbus, Ohio

HighCom Armor Solutions, a leader in advanced ballistic protection, today hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Columbus, Ohio facility to mark the successful recommissioning of its proprietary XTclave™ system. The event represents a major milestone for HighCom Armor and its parent company, HighCom Limited, underscoring their commitment to innovation and excellence in defense technology.

The XTclave™ system utilises ultra-high isostatic pressure consolidation technology to manufacture cutting-edge ballistic protection products. Attendees at the ceremony were given an exclusive preview of the latest product developments currently undergoing research and development trials using the XTclave™ process.

Key Highlights from the Event:

Relocation and Upgrade: The XTclave™ system was relocated from Adelaide, South Australia, to Columbus, Ohio. The move included significant upgrades, including a new water-based cooling system and a larger ASME-certified pressure vessel, doubling the system’s production capacity.

Enhanced Production Capabilities: The upgraded system now supports at least three production cycles per shift, with an estimated annual output of up to 40,000 ballistic plates. It also enables the production of a broader range of protective gear, including helmets, shields, and aviation or vehicle armor.

Strategic Significance: This recommissioning is part of an 18-month strategic initiative to enhance operational efficiency and position HighCom for major U.S. Department of Defense contracts. All XTclave™ products will be Berry Amendment-compliant.

Product Innovation: Since recommissioning on June 18, 2025, HighCom has accelerated the development and testing of its latest designs. These innovations will form the foundation of the new “Superior” range of ultra-lightweight ballistic plates and helmets, including female-form body armor. Commercial pre-orders can be taken from October, with deliveries commencing by year-end.

Operational and Economic Benefits: Consolidating operations in Columbus is projected to save approximately $2 million annually and improve profitability through optimized staff and asset utilization.

“This ribbon-cutting not only celebrates technological progress but also reinforces our leadership in the defense and personal protection sectors,” said Todd Ashurst, Group CEO of HighCom Limited. “We’re proud to showcase the future of ballistic protection and the strategic investments that make it possible.”
